Spirit Over Fairhope

Spirit Airlines flies over Fairhope APR 17th 2026

Spirit Airlines flight 1365, an Airbus 320, passes over Fairhope’s Flying Creek Nature Preserve APR 16th 2026 while on a flight from New Orleans to Orlando. Questions are being raised about whether Spirit can stay in business. Having already declared bankruptcy twice, the ultra low cost carrier faces more pressure because of rising fuel prices. Spirit began the year paying around $2.25 per gallon on average, with the airline predicting costs to be lower next year. But within the past week, jet fuel has been running around $4.24 a gallon. The airline is reported to be asking the federal government for an emergency bailout. With its business model gradually being destroyed, airline management says that–unless new agreements can be reached with creditors and other stakeholders–Spirit could be forced to liquidate.
