Rouxster’s Blackened Catfish

The plan upon walking into Rouxster Cafe and Catering for lunch Wednesday is to go for the crabcake sandwich because it’s always so good. But owner Chad Kirtland throws a curveball by offering a lunch special of blackened catfish with seared shrimp and collard greens over a bed of rice ($16). As much as I could go for the crabcake, something tells me to live dangerously and go for the special. Turns out, that’s a good decision. Full of flavor. A little bit of kick, but not too much. Would I get this again? The empty plate should be a clue. For not being a very large place, the menu may surprise you if you’ve not been here before.
Lots of options including sandwiches like New Orleans Muffulettas, salads and more. And then there’s the shrimp poboy ($16) I had during a previous visit with Colleen, who loved her Spinach berry salad with shrimp ($17). Would we get these again? Absolutely/positively.
Rouxster Catering and Cafe is open for lunch between 10 and 3 TUE-SAT at 209 S Section St. The location is between Fels Ave and Gaston Ave, south of the AT&T building.
