The Dang Menu at Ivey’s

Grit Cakes at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

If it’s a special occasion, you want the restaurant you choose to provide an enjoyable dining experience. That’s why Colleen and I pick Ivey’s Fine Dining in Robertsdale JUN 12 2026. It’s a place we are quite familiar with but we find that many eastern shore residents don’t know about.

Located at the corner of Pennsylvania Ave and the northbound lane of Highway 59 in downtown Robertsdale (where the highway is split into different roadways for a few blocks), we have learned from almost a dozen visits over the years that you just don’t go wrong here. Tonight, we get a reminder about how consistently excellent we find the food, atmosphere and service.Dinner salad at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Jen is our server and greets us as soon as we are seated. We start with an appetizer of grit cakes with blue cheese, nuts and carmelized onions ($9.95). Honestly, the menu description never appealed to me much and blue cheese is nowhere close to the top of my favorites list, but this is a combination of flavors that just works. It serves as a reminder about the value of not judging without first trying. The cakes are also available as an entree.

Fresh and chilled dinner salads follow, with a choice of several homemade dressings. I go for ranch, but all the choices are good based on past visits.Barbecue grilled salmon at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Ivey’s has what I call a dang menu. That’s because I look at one item and say, ‘That’s what I want!’ But then I spot another choice and it’s, ‘dang, I want that, too’ and ‘dang, this third entree sounds wonderful!’ Ivey’s dang menus don’t make choosing easy.Eggplant Jubilee at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Barely edging out a Black Angus ribeye, my choice is a long time favorite because no place else serves anything close to the Eggplant Jubilee: Fried eggplant topped with crabmeat and blackened Gulf shrimp and enhanced with hollandaise ($23). This dish is always a clean-the-plate venture for me and tonight is no different. It’s just plain scrumptious.Receipt from Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Colleen chooses an old favorite, too: The Bourbon salmon ($42) is marinated in bourbon, grilled and served over rice with an adventurous mix of goodies including slivered almonds. On its own, the salmon with its sweet glaze is a standout, but the rice mixture makes for a great enhancement.Menu at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Our total without tip winds up at $68.62. We appreciate the fact that Ivey’s is proof that you can still have what we consider a first class dining experience without having to pay a fortune.Menu at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Our meal has been delicious and the atmosphere relaxed and wonderful. Friendly and proactive, Jen does an A+ job of serving us by making sure we have everything we need. Two days later, we’re still talking about the meal.Menu at Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

The place is open for lunch and dinner TUE-SAT. Reservations are recommended for evening visits. Ivey’s is barely a thirty minute drive along Hwy 104 from Fairhope.Ivey's in Robertsdale AL

Tonight’s visit provides total reassurance that we’ll be back, and probably sooner rather than later. It’s because of what’s on that dang menu…
