Flying Jennies Over Fairhope

A US Air Force Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Hercules makes several passes over Fairhope SEP 29 2026 while crew members practice touch-and-go landings at Brookley Field in Mobile.

The crew’s primary missions include delivering equipment and supplies, as well as transporting cargo, personnel and making airdrops.

Based at Kessler Air Force Base in MS, the aircraft is assigned to the 815th Airlift Squadron, known as the “Flying Jennies,” operating under the 403rd Wing of the Air Force Reserve Command. With its wide array of capabilities, the Hercules is considered a workhorse of America’s military forces.

Flyin’ Jenny was the name of a comic strip published in the 1940s featuring aviation adventures. The name is thought to have been carried over by the Air Force.
