Friday Date Night in Fairhope
Our JUN 05 2026 Friday date night dinner stop at Thyme on Section winds up with a slight departure from what we order often. Colleen is planning for the regular grilled salmon, which she loves. But when Mary, our server, mentions the evening special–grilled tuna featuring a risotto of coconut and mango plus corn ($28)–Colleen says to bring it on. 
What shows up is a visual fiesta. But looks are only the start. Colleen says the dish is a treat, and she’d absolutely get it again. Although typically addicted to Thyme’s Bistro steak, I ask Mary to bring out another favorite: The cashew chicken salad ($20), featuring a mix of greens, cabbage, carrots, red peppers, onions, sweet chili fried chicken, cashews and ginger-sesame dressing.
With so many ingredients, digging through this salad is fun and delicious. Every bite is an adventure. My plate goes back empty. As is SOP here, Mary does a great job taking care of us. What we’ve learned from dining here is that, while it’s fine to have your favorite entrees, it’s best to keep an open mind when hearing about the evening specials (they can be impressive).
