Rare Sight in Fairhope

A US Army Boeing CH-47 Chinook visits Fairhope’s airport APR 10 2026. The tandem rotor Chinook is considered a workhorse, given its ability to lift payloads weighing more than thirteen tons.
Capable of climbing to more than 20,000 feet, the Chinook’s strengths include transporting cargo and troops, along with search and rescue, casualty evacuation, disaster relief and special operations.
In addition to the Army, the Chinook is used by US Special Operations Command and twenty other countries. No other aircraft used by the Army or its global allies is considered capable of performing the critical heavy-lift missions that the Chinook can handle. Boeing says the Chinook is expected to operate into 2060 and beyond…
