A Taste of Tokyo in Fairhope

Hibachi is a favorite style of cooking for Colleen and me, so we drop by Fairhope’s Tokyo Asian Cuisine on a recent evening. We’ve not been in this place for years, so curiosity and a yearning for food straight off the grill brings us here. We’re greeted by staff as soon as we walk in and notice that the place is clean and inviting. Colleen orders hibachi steak and chicken, while I pick hibachi chicken with shrimp. Both entrees are $23.95 and include a salad and our choice of soup (we go for Miso).
Our food doesn’t take long to prepare. Salads with ginger dressing and soup come out only a couple of minutes after ordering. The salads are fresh and chilled, the dressing is great, and we both think our soup is good, too.
Our entrees show up shortly afterward and both come with rice and broccoli. My chicken and shrimp are fresh and nicely cooked, offering good flavor. Dipping both in accompanying yum-yum sauce is an additional treat. Colleen says her steak and chicken are quite good.
With a good knowledge of the menu, Hanah, our server, is friendly, responsive and takes care of us nicely. Our total without tip winds up at $52.22.
Tokyo Asian Cuisine is open TUE-SUN for lunch and dinner and has a large selection of sushi plus a menu for kids. Orders for pick-up can be placed online.
For not having stopped here in quite some time, Colleen and I agree that our experience here was a satisfying one. We’ve not tried any of their sushi, so that has us curious. Maybe on a future visit, but our hibachi experience alone has been good enough that we’ll be stopping back in.
