Triple Seven Over Fairhope

American Airlines flight 2431 passes directly over Battles Wharf in Fairhope JAN 18th 2026, while on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Captured at an altitude of 38,000 feet or a little over seven miles high, the Boeing 777 moves at a ground speed of 415 knots or 477 mph during the roughly five hour flight.
The Triple-Seven has become one of the most popular wide-body long haul jets in the world since initial rollout in 1994. Powered by GE engines that can produce up to 115,000 pounds of thrust, the 777’s Extended Range version has a maximum travel range of more than 8,400 miles. Passengers have consistently praised the 777 for its cabin comfort, especially on long-haul flights. Changing market conditions have affected use of the aircraft among some carriers. In 2020, Delta Air Lines retired all eighteen Triple-Sevens in its fleet, opting instead for the Airbus A350.
