Wolfhound Over Fairhope

A US Air Force C-146A Dornier Wolfhound passes over Fairhope DEC 9th 2025 while doing training exercises. Wolfhounds are the military version of the Dornier 328 turboprop commuter airliner. They are used to transport US Special Operations Command teams and cargo. The aircraft are capable of short takeoffs and landings on rough airstrips, making them well suited to operate discreetly. With a civilian-like appearance, the Wolfhound is considered more likely to blend in with the surroundings when operating in militarily sensitive areas. The cabins can be configured to handle various combinations of passengers and cargo and can be used for casualty evacuation. Duke Field north of Eglin Air Force Base, FL, is a base of operations for Wolfhounds. With a range of about 1,700 miles, around twenty Wolfhounds were reported to be on active duty as of JAN 2025…
