Big, Pink and Carrying Acid

The container ship One Continuity

One Continuity, a 1,051 foot by 150 foot container ship sailing under the flag of Hong Kong, passes Gaillard Island on its way into the port of Mobile the morning of AUG 22 2025. With a draught of 38 feet, the ship moves at 13 mph while finishing a two day trip from Houston. According to ship manifests, One Continuity’s cargo includes around 127 tons worth of carboxylic acid (a compound used in various foods and household products including soaps), about ten tons of plastic cups and lids, nearly seventeen tons worth of maintenance free batteries, around 23 tons of tert-butylphenyl phosphite (a compound used in plastics) and about 25 tons of tires along with steel flanges, hoists, jack safety stands and plastic insulated wire. Documents indicate that most of the cargo was loaded in South Korea with some placed aboard in China. There will be a quiz on ship contents later.
