Fairhope Honors Flag Day
Members of the Baldwin Co. Honor Guard share a history of the American Flag during a Flag Day celebration JUN 14 2025 at Fairhope Elks Lodge 1879. The American flag has gone through several versions during its history. The stars and stripes got their start as The Grand Union flag (also known as Continental colors), representing the 13 original colonies that declared independence from Great Britain. The Continental Congress officially adopted the Stars and Stripes on JUN 14 1777. The color red represents valor and hardiness, while white stands for purity and innocence, with blue representing justice, vigilance and perseverance. Mayor Sherry Sullivan is among the attending guests.
