Spirit In The Middle of Nowhere
Fresh out of drydock, Carnival Spirit, the passenger ship that sails out of Mobile each year, is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Loaded with travelers, the ship is on schedule to arrive in Bermuda Thursday after departing Ponta Delgada, Portugal Saturday. The ship’s itinerary is part of a two week repositioning cruise that will include a stop in Miami before heading for the Panama Canal and later to Seattle, where Spirit will spend the summer offering cruises to Alaska starting in April. During drydock, the ship underwent enhancements including the addition of a Heroes Tribute Bar which Carnival says is a dedicated space for active-duty military and veterans. The ship’s fitness center, retail shops and a spa were updated, along with enhancements made to the casino and nightclub. A new mini golf course was also added.
In October, Spirit sails from Seattle and New Orleans before returning to Mobile to offer cruises of between five and fourteen nights to the Caribbean and Bahamas.
