The haven: A Mission of Hope
If you ask Michael Graham what his group’s mission is in two words, “giving hope” is what you’re likely to hear. Graham is Executive Director of The Haven, an organization Fairhope is fortunate to have. A no-kill animal shelter, the group works to end pet homelessness by placing dogs and cats in loving, caring environments. The Haven assists with rehoming, and serves as an information resource for people who may be experiencing behavior problems with their pets. Weather permitting, The Haven will have pets available for adoption at this weekend’s Arts and Crafts festival. If you’ve thought about adopting but would like to have the chance to spend time getting to know a pet before making the commitment, The Haven makes this possible.
Want to help? One great way is by volunteering time to take a dog for a walk. Donations are always appreciated and–since The Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit–are tax deductible. I recently get the chance to meet staff members at The Haven and learn about their work (and they do a lot, providing information on spaying and neutering, holding adoption events around the area and more). Check out the video and see if you might be able to add a new member to the family!
