United ‘heavy’ over Fairhope

United Airlines flight 1451 passes over Fly Creek in Fairhope Tuesday afternoon while on a flight from Denver to Orlando. The Boeing 757 is captured 35,000 feet or 6.63 miles high, moving at a ground speed of 500 knots or 575 mph during the three hour flight. Heavy is a designation given to aircraft that leave significant wake turbulence and that require greater separation distance from airplanes following from behind.
