Thyme never disappoints
Starting the new year in Thyme: Our first evening meal out for 2025 kicks off at Thyme on Section St. We begin with an appetizer of hummus with grilled pita bread ($9). Featuring a basil pesto with roasted chickpeas, it’s excellent. For entrees, Colleen orders the grilled salmon ($29) while I choose the Bistro steak with truffle fries ($30). From appetizer through the entrees, the food is positively wonderful (but that’s what happens every time we visit here). In fact, Colleen says the salmon–featuring a cranberry kale with butternut squash chutney over risotto with balsamic reduction–may be her new favorite here. My Bistro steak is tender and full of flavor (and I appreciate that it’s cooked perfectly). Along with the steak is a generous helping of Thyme’s truffle fries with aioli and dipping sauce. Simply put, I have not had better fries anywhere. Dangerously addictive, you can also get truffle fries as an appetizer, something many Thyme customers choose. Any way you look at it, our meals are outstanding. For both of us, it’s a case of, ‘we’d definitely get this again.’ Jessica does a good job of taking care of us. Our check without tip winds up at $74.12 if paying with cash. “What a treat,” Colleen says as we leave. It’s a notable accomplishment for a restaurant to serve a great meal and provide good service. But it’s an even bigger achievement to do that on a consistent basis. This is what the people who run Thyme know how to do…
