The Fairhope Rose

Tina Powers is intrigued when she hears about a home for sale on Fairhope Ave. Only a short walk from downtown on one side and the pier and parks on the other, the home was built one hundred sixteen years ago. Some might say, βtear it down.β Tina says, absolutely not! No bulldozer on this lot. Instead, Tina commits to bringing new life to the home, while preserving charm and character dating back more than a century.
Tinaβs plan is for others to be able to enjoy the place as a short term rental thatβs loaded with personality. Complete with beadboard walls, hardwood floors and distinctive pink colors, Tina and her husband, Paul, who manage vacation rental properties in the area, envision family stays, bridal get-togethers, tea parties and more. At the moment, The Fairhope Rose, as it will be known, is getting a huge facelift. The house is being painstakingly restored to resemble its original appearance (thereβs so much new beadboard inside that just caulking all of it takes three weeks). Even the new refrigerator will have a retro look.
While doing research on the homeβs history, Tina learns that some real monkey business happened here in the past.
Hoping to open for business in the fall, Tina is nice enough to take Colleen and me through the home to show whatβs in store, and she lets us stage a video ambush about her plans. Hope you enjoy watching The Fairhope Rose as it starts to bloom!
