The Blind Tiger Goes Seven

Thomas Genin has two heart-felt words to say to eastern shore residents: “Thank you.” He’ll admit that some of the toughest days running The Blind Tiger on Fairhope’s pier are when drivers bringing food or beer skip the delivery because they can’t get access to the restaurant (delivery drivers, Genin explains, won’t wait, not even for a temporary closure).

Limited parking closest to the pier has been shut down by construction for the city’s Working Waterfront project. That leaves areas further away as the only places customers can park. But ask Genin or partner Brent Barkin if they’re ready to throw up their hands over the challenges they’ve faced since opening late last summer and you’ll get a quick, ‘no way.’ In fact, they’re coming up with ways to deal with the challenges and ramping business up: The Blind Tiger has just switched to being open seven days a week, starting at 11 daily and closing at 9 weekdays and 10 on weekends. When word gets out, they’re amazed at what happens next. Instead of staying away, people show up to eat.

Genin and Barkin say it’s local residents who have supported them amid the confusion and awkwardness of trying to get to the restaurant, and for that, they are extremely grateful. They believe the Blind Tiger has an exciting future in Fairhope, especially once the construction finishes this summer. Hope you enjoy the video…
