Submarine Killer overhead
Poseidon over Fairhope: A US Navy Boeing P-8A Poseidon makes passes over Point Clear late Tuesday afternoon while practicing touch-and-go landings at Brookley Field in Mobile. Based on the design of Boeing’s commercial 737 aircraft, Poseidons are modified for military use. Specializing in anti-submarine warfare, the aircraft is capable of carrying torpedoes and missiles. Poseidons are equipped to provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance duties and are used by military forces in roughly half a dozen countries. Last year, the Navy awarded Boeing a $3.4 billion contract to build more than a dozen Poseidons for use by Canada and Germany. Photos shot from Fairhope, roughly 1.5 miles away…
Awesome photo!
