Stopping in Thyme
If you’re Christmas shopping in Fairhope and want to stop for a bite to eat, it would be hard to do better than Thyme on Section. Colleen and I choose this spot for lunch Wednesday. We start with an order of Truffle Fries ($9). French fries don’t always jump out at me, but these–served with parmesan, scallion and truffle aioli–are delicious, something I learned on a previous visit. Just about every fry gets dipped in the sauce. By the way, the sauce has apparently become so popular that an additional cup is now fifty cents. The lunch menu is not easy because so many options sound tempting. I finally settle on the blackened grouper BLT with a cup of tomato and feta cheese soup ($16). Served on sourdough, the sandwich is wonderful and the soup is packed with flavor. Colleen orders the cashew chicken salad ($18), an old friend she has always liked, and says it’s as good as ever. Our cash total without tip is $47.42 (add 3% for credit cards). Mary, who has been our server before, does an excellent job taking care of us. We’re always asked if we’d like dessert, and today is no exception. More stuffed than Santa with a loaded down sleigh, my answer is, you’ve got to be kidding. I hear Colleen mention the word spectacular as we’re leaving. That’s an accurate assessment of our latest visit to Thyme on Section. Open for lunch and dinner WED-SAT and SUN for brunch at 33 N Section St…
