Flags remain at half staff JAN 16th in commemoration of the death of President Jimmy Carter. Alabama is one of eight states whose governors have ordered flags to be flown at full staff on Monday, JAN 20th, in acknowledgement of the inauguration of President Donald J Trump. Flags at the U.S. Capitol will fly at full staff on Monday, as well. Flags will be lowered back to half staff beginning Tuesday JAN 21st to continue honoring President Carter. As is customary when a U.S. President dies, President Biden ordered that flags be lowered to half staff for 30 days from the day of Carter’s death, which occurred DEC 29th.
