Stepping up To Help Cait Schott

Eastern shore residents waste no time in trying to help Caitlan Schott, the 26-year-old Fairhope woman who was the victim of a JUL 19th shooting that left her critically wounded. Members of Fairhopeโ€™s Elks Lodge 1879 say theyโ€™re getting an amazing response after launching a campaign to raise money to help Cait by selling smoked pork butts for $35.

Local residents as well as people from out of area are showing up to help Cait, who, along with her mother, Allyson Marshall, are Elks members.

The first round of cooking concluded with 160 orders pre-sold, but demand has been so heavy that Lodge members have begun taking orders for more butts as part of a second round of cooking.

Having already undergone multiple surgeries, recovery for Cait, who was hit five times, is expected to be lengthy and costly. Cait’s attacker committed suicide.
