Starting 2026 Deliciously

Now beginning its second year of operation, Fairhope’s Kingfisher Seafood beckons to Colleen and me over the first weekend of the year. With a varied menu and consistently flavorful food, Kingfisher becomes a popular lunch and dinner spot shortly after opening its doors. In the months since, people have figured out that Kingfisher knows well how to make their Louisiana cuisine a treat; Kingfisher is frequently packed at dinner. The place is busy when we walk in early Sunday evening, but we’re seated immediately.Kingfisher Seafood restaurant's crab and brie soup

Colleen became a big fan of the crab and brie soup ($9) early on, so that’s her choice, and I don’t blame her–take a sip and there’s no way you’ll leave any behind. The Pontchartrain with salad and side ($35) is my choice. The panéed drum filet is another case of leaving nothing on the plate because it’s fresh, expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. My choice of hushpuppies for a side is spot on, because they’re wonderful, too. The main course follows a dinner salad with homemade honey mustard dressing, which I’ve had here many times because it’s so good.Kingfisher Seafood restaurant in Fairhope, Alabama

Both of our meals come with bread, and we double dog dare you not to eat all of it.

Darren is our server and does an A+ job of checking on us and making sure we have what we need.Kingfisher Seafood restaurant in Fairhope, Alabama

Our total without tip lands at $67.58. Colleen and I walk out, absolutely satisfied with both the meal and the service. None of the choices we made for tonight’s meal were new–we’ve chosen them before, and there’s a reason for that.Kingfisher Seafood restaurant in Fairhope, Alabama

Located at 805 S Mobile St, Kingfisher Seafood is open seven days a week (which we appreciate because a lot of places are closed Sundays). Delivery is available, and you can order to go, as well as make reservations on their website.
