Sending A Message To Veterans

The fish aren’t biting much, but that’s okay. A gorgeous, spring-like day provides plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy being outdoors as residents of the William F Green Alabama State Veterans Home in Bay Minette are treated to a fishing outing in Fairhope. Each year, Fairhope’s Elks Lodge 1879 teams up with Oak Hollow Farm, a family-operated venue with meeting areas, overnight accommodations and a stocked fishing pond. The Farm graciously hosts veterans from the state home, inviting them to enjoy fishing and then treats them to a delicious meal. Today’s offering includes fried catfish, barbecue, green beans, macaroni and homemade cobbler with ice cream. As one Elks Lodge member says, “it’s all about supporting our troops.”
