Our JUN 12 2025 meal kicks off with a dozen raw on the half shell ($20) at Original Oyster House looking out over Mobile Bay in Spanish Fort. Chilled on ice, the oysters are fresh and wonderful. The horseradish has enough fire to bring tears to my eyes, but who can I blame, since I mixed it myself? The Joe Cain platter ($28) follows: Blackened flounder under a garlic cream sauce plus fried popcorn shrimp, grilled shrimp, a fried crab cake and hushpuppies. John is our server and does a good job taking care of us. There’s no doubt we’ll be making return visits here. The menu is huge and full of tempting choices. The real question is whether to stick with the Joe Cain platter because it’s so good, or try something different. Sometimes, deciding can be tough…
