Ocean Sentry Over Fairhope
A US Coast Guard CASA HC-144A Ocean Sentry flies north along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay the morning of SEP 15 2025. Captured about 3,400 feet high, the aircraft moves at a ground speed of 171 knots or 196 mph. A fixed-wing dual turboprop aircraft, the Ocean Sentry is recognized for its ability to locate objects in large search areas, as well as its utility to perform aerial delivery of search and rescue equipment. A rear ramp allows for configuring the aircraft to be used for command and control missions as well as medical evacuations or passenger transport. Measuring 70’2” by 84’8”, the Ocean Sentry can remain in the air for ten hours, making it well suited for maritime patrol, drug and migrant interdiction, disaster response and search and rescue missions. The aircraft is built by the Spanish subsidiary of EADS, the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. EADS is the name previously used by the aerospace company now known as Airbus.
