New Ramp Slightly Delayed

Completion of Fairhope’s new disabled-friendly ramp and stairway–originally predicted to be finished this month–will take a little longer. The contractor says design changes that caused lead times for some materials to change is the reason for the delay.


Construction is now expected to be finished by late March. Once work on the ramp is finished, crews will join the concrete walkways at the top and bottom, with additional lighting planned for installation, as well.

Original plans called for a cable-driven funicular to be installed, but the ramp with adjacent stairway were adopted instead. The ramp, which represents the final segment of Fairhope’s Working Waterfront project, is located between South Beach Park and Utopia Park, which runs along S Mobile St…
