Kingfisher Seafood Satisfies
Colleen and a seriously hungry husband stop off at Kingfisher Seafood where previous visits have already taught that a good meal is in store. Today it’s a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo for me followed by a fried Half and Half platter featuring shrimp and catfish with fries, hushpuppies and jambalaya with a salad. She goes for a bowl of crab and brie soup and the Hawaiian Seafood salad, both of which she loves from previous visits.
Everything about this meal is a home run. Full of pieces of chicken and sausage, my gumbo is hearty and delicious. My salad is chilled and fresh, and the tangy homemade honey mustard dressing is great. From delicious catfish and shrimp to the jambalaya, hushpuppies and fries, my seafood platter is A+. Even the rolls served with our meal are a treat.
We also appreciate the fact that Kingfisher serves filtered water, something many places don’t do (and you can often taste the difference). Taylor, our server, does a very good job taking care of us. Colleen remarks how much she likes the decor inside.
Our total without tip is $63.22. We are so full that we need two to-go boxes, affirming that Kingfisher does not shortchange on food (in fact, you could make a pretty good meal out of a couple of appetizers).
We’ve made around half a dozen visits since the place opened at the start of the year, and not once have we walked out hungry or dissatisfied. Kingfisher Seafood, open seven days a week at 805 S Mobile St in Fairhope, seems to know well how to serve great meals while making customers feel that the value is definitely there…
