Getting A treat At Thyme

Vegetable hummus appetizer from Thyme on Section in Fairhope

There’s nothing new about where Colleen and I wind up for Friday date night dinner SEP 26 2025 in Fairhope. We’ve made many a visit to Thyme on Section, and it’s because we consider going here to be a treat. The food and service are always outstanding. Thyme rotates its menus seasonally and has just rolled out the fall offerings.

We have always enjoyed their hummus appetizer, but see a new addition: Along with traditional is vegetable hummus ($12), featuring grilled eggplant caponata, along with feta cheese and Greek chimichurri. Being eggplant fans, we cannot resist. I have a feeling this will be good, but boy, do I undercall this one. Served on fried pita wedges and full of flavor, Colleen and I love this dish. In fact, this is a plate scraper in my book. Dipping the bread in the sauce is definitely recommended. Any time you go to the effort of scraping up all the remaining bits of food, you know it’s seriously good. Would we get this again? Absolutely.Grilled salmon from Thyme on Section in Fairhope

When Colleen’s grilled salmon ($24) shows up, you can tell just by looking at it that a fun food adventure awaits. Served with fall vegetables including butternut squash, cranberry chutney, kale, sage and walnuts, Colleen gives this dish an A+.

Bistro steakFortunately, even though the new menu is out, Thyme keeps favorites around like the Bistro Steak ($26). The grilled Teres Major is a masterpiece of dining. Tender and full of flavor, I would never think of adding steak sauce. Every bite is pure enjoyment. And I continue to maintain that Thyme’s truffle fries–served with truffle aioli, bits of onion and herb sauce–are the best fries I’ve had anywhere around. I double dog dare you to dip a fry into the white sauce and only eat one, while all the remaining fries sit there, looking at you. Of course, we make sure not to devour all the fries and let some go back with the plate. Not!

Service (as usual) is excellent.

In reviewing our meal, kings and queens, Colleen says, don’t eat any better than this.Thyme on Section in Fairhope

Our total without tip lands at $67.58 if paid with cash.

This evening again reminds us that you can pay more elsewhere, but I’m not convinced you’ll get any better of a dining experience than Thyme on Section…
