Fairhope Lions Charity Golf

Members of the Fairhope Lions Club gather at the Quail Creek Golf Course OCT 5th 2025 to launch their 19th annual charity golf tournament. This year, though, supporters get something they’ve not experienced previously: Showers pushing inland from the Gulf earlier in the day move over the course, sending golfers scrambling for cover before they can tee off.
The tournament is much more than just a fun outing for golfers to head out to the course. The event serves as the Lions Club’s most important fundraiser of the year, with proceeds making scores of charitable projects possible. Ecumenical Ministries, Prodisee Pantry and various charitable camps all receive support from the Lions. Free eye exams and prescription glasses for low-income residents are another long standing project the Lions sponsor.
Participants also get the chance to submit bids at a silent auction. The tournament gets strong support from businesses in the area, with players getting to compete for major prizes including a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox donated by Terry Thompson Chevrolet and a $25,000 cash prize from Dream Vacations.
Once the deluge begins, Club directors decide to move the tournament one week to OCT 12th, with tee time set for 1pm. “Any paid golfer that cannot make it next Sunday will receive a rain check for 18 holes with cart to be used at their convenience,” says Lions Club member George Wilson. The Lions have been providing aid to the community through various programs for over sixty years.
