Maersk Saigon, a 1,089 foot by 141 foot container ship sailing under the flag of Singapore, passes Gaillard Island on its way into the port of Mobile MAR 4th 2026. With a draught of 34 feet, the ship moves at 12 mph while finishing a trip from Houston. According to ship manifests, Maersk Saigon’s cargo includes about 22 tons of sodium sulphite (an inorganic salt used as an antioxidant and food preservative), more than 40 tons of wooden doors and about 24 tons worth of top mounted freezers plus PVC flooring, office chairs, side tables, outdoor tables, valve parts, bed frames and safety shoes.
