CMA CGM Almaviva, a 1,905 foot by 140 container ship sailing under the flag of Malta, passes Gaillard Island on the way into the port of Mobile the afternoon of AUG 01 2025. With a draught of 38 feet, the ship moves at 12 mph while finishing a day’s trip from Houston. According to ship manifests, CMA CGM Almaviva’s cargo includes more than 185 tons of R227EA gas refrigerant, nearly 130 tons worth of hex bolts, over 50 tons of cables, about 43 tons of wet wipes, over 20 tons of paper and plastic straws, around 42 tons of phosphonobutane (used in detergents, cleaners, antifreeze agents and fire extinguishers) plus vacuum cleaner hose reels, office furniture and computer desks.
