American Legion Moves Ahead

The American Legion takes its story of rebuilding, restoring and responding to community leaders around the eastern shore with a VIP breakfast the morning of JAN 15th 2026. Legion leaders share the story of the Post’s past, including the damage sustained by Hurricane Sally in 2020, how members are moving forward with projects they have underway and the value of financially supporting the Legion as it pays down debt from construction of its new building at 700 S Mobile St.
Gerry Garcia, a previous Commander for the Post, shares stories about assistance the Legion has provided to veterans in the area, including helping save one Veteran’s family from losing their home to foreclosure.
Mark Valentine shares details about Boys State, a Legion sponsored program that uses week-long practical participation to teach youths about citizenship, the responsibilities it carries and the importance of participating in government. Boys State takes place starting MAY 24th on the campus of The University of Alabama.
